A plea seeking directions to be issued to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India to further direct the telecommunication service provider across all service areas in India to not to block services of the subscribers who are unable to pay their bills due to the COVID-10 crisis, has been moved in the Delhi High Court.
The plea seeks to not to block incoming calls and incoming messages on any activate subscribed mobile number until the COVID19 crisis are resolved. Also, restoration of services of those subscribers who were blocked from availing services of incoming calls and messages due to non-payment of bills or lack of recharge.
Petition states - TRAI has a general fund created under section 22 of the TRAI Act that commands TRAI to utilize such fund consumer welfare schemes that are for the welfare of the existing subscribers. this fund can also be utilized to set off the losses that TRAI might incur by complying with the prayers raised in this petition.
