Today everything relies on technology. Technology has aided in making day to day life simpler, as well as keep us all connected. The impact of technology on work has seen humans and machines collaborate, and traditional career paths change. With the invention of the internet, trade experienced a fundamental transformation; it changed the dynamics of business dramatically. By the mid-nineties, many different companies started to boast online retail options and services which created a substantial breakthrough in the world of shopping or banking.
The relationship between law, technological innovation and development has to be interactive, dynamic and complex. Law making necessarily has to be slow and tedious but technology can proceed at break neck speed. Thus, there is bound to be a gap between technological innovation and legal change. This gap promotes legal uncertainty because the interacting parties cannot comprehend their legal rights however, on the contrary, this gap in time is not only necessary for a better analysis of the impact of technology, but also prior to enactment of laws helps to soberly decide on ways to encourage positive interaction between parties in order to satisfy themselves.
Technology has not only made legal services transparent, but also more accessible and cost-effective. There are online startups that match lawyers with prospective clients according to their needs and financial means.
The practice of legal departments and law firms is rapidly changing as they become more aware of the cost efficiencies. The latest developments in legal IT are also facilitating the development of new strategies for collaborative work arrangements and client relationships.
In a global age Law, order and justice are the essential ingredients to ensure trust. Since legal services have become an international phenomenon services such as the provision of legal documents, sanctioned applications, intellectual-property management, and business structuring has significantly increased. Changes in the legal market have opened doors to the development and adoption of technologies that allows legal-service providers to enhance productivity, offer innovative digital products such as contract management, cybercrime consultations etc.
RESEARCH MADE EASY:
Over the past years, technology has had a remarkable impact on the way law is practiced. With the expansion of internet, people have much larger access to legal information than they have had over the past several decades. The traditional practice of law for lawyers is changing, earlier lawyers did all of their legal research using books. However, now most of that research is done electronically with legal research databases. Several technologies are changing the legal profession on the significant basis. One of the biggest achievements of technology in law involves the digitalization and storage of case laws, statutes, and regulations. From a single practicing lawyer to a law firm, IT can balance the expenditure and the quality of research uniform. Some databases have bifurcated case law and statutes in a way that users are able to look at the statistics of judgments, type of content accepted by the court etc.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN LAW:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India is being implemented at a highly effective scale in a number of industries, from robotic janitors in hotels to automated entertainment in cell phones. Artificial Intelligence has changed the shape of multiple industries.The Indian legal system is dynamic and with the use of Artificial Intelligence, lawyers can get supreme insight into the legal domain within minutes. Artificial Intelligence provides lawyers with highly efficient and advanced tools helping them to become better at advising clients or litigating. AI doesn’t replace lawyers; it systematizes routine tasks so that focus can be on mainstream activities.
AI-driven Contract Management:
It offers several unique capabilities that are not possible without technology.
It increases Legal Ops productivity with clause suggestions that are proven to restructure negotiations and reduce the exposure to risk.
AI locates key terms that can create financial or compliance risks in negotiated agreements. It can compare negotiated wording with agreement templates automatically to reckon and manage exposure to the risks.
AI helps reduce the time required to reach contract signature via cycle time prediction based on similar agreements. It uses different clauses to convey full visibility to the impact of language choices.

AI in litigation helps analyze the public records and create title reports in no time. Lawyers practicing litigation can use AI applications to review documents received in the past. AI is being used for enforcement of law too. There is an application that predicts crime, based on a person’s facial features or by analyzing geographic clusters via the same. All AI applications, from contract to litigation to criminal law, assemble data and compare it to notorious, or known, norms to isolate and sort relevant behaviours. Document reviewing AI applications can eliminate monotonous skilled labour and the chances of any human error.
The modern delivery model of legal services is not just selling law knowledge, but the faster delivery of expertise in a quantifiable manner. A traditional legal firm’s organizational structure is more labour-intensive, while a modern legal firm is more technologically intensive. Online platforms have not only helped to standardize the delivery of legal services by stripping lawyers of their monopoly, but have also democratized access to legal source materials.
THE CHANGING PATTERN OF COURTS:
India is one of the largest representatives of democracy in the world; it has an independent judiciary with the Supreme Court at the helm. E courts were established to help judicial administrations of the courts to reform their day-to-day activities and reduce the pendency of the cases. Usually people have a view about Courts being rigid and secretive, however, e-courts can help change this impression and Courts can become fast and user-friendly. Establishment of e-courts has brought accountability in the judicial system. Through an e-court, the entire information about a particular case is available to the attorneys, parties and the general public. The case details of almost all the pending cases are available online. They have aided in the automation of work flow management in courts. Video conferencing facilities are being installed in every court complex, from evidence of eyewitness to statements of parties without any risk. Electronic courts have helped the lawyers in filing of documents. Registered attorneys can file their case documents as per their convenience. The burden of postage, paper work or traffic congestion is avoided. The information is also safe and all of it is carefully recorded and stored. This includes maintaining the records of e-file minute entries, bail orders, warrants etc. wherever applicable. There is Generation of automated cause lists to automated court diaries. Case status is available online, from filing till the case gets disposed. There is website of each court which provides generation of daily orders of cases.
The Indian legal system is witnessing a transformation with the development of smart technology. From a firm’s perspective, services have become more productive and profitable, whereas from a client’s prospective the services are now cheaper and easily accessible. The drift from traditional to technological approach is not only saving time and money, but also to achieve growth as a developing country. The dramatic transformations in the legal industry has resulted in lot of positive changes. The legal profession is no longer a cartel profession and more of a democratic element is available.
