Precautionary Measures to Deal with Pandemic COVID-19 - ICJ

Coronavirus is expanding and spreading globally. The amid spread has let the International Court of Justice to take measures for dealing with the novel widespread disease.  

With an aim to control the COVID-19 the following steps are to be taken which has been declared by the through a press release by the principal judicial organ of the United Nations.

Through these guidelines and measures the health of the Judges Staff and their family are to be taken control of. The protective measure includes –

  • Till April 16, 2020 – no meetings or hearing to be held.
  • All the visits and travel of the members of the court and the registry staff are to be suspended.
  • To reduce the staff at the Peace palace which is the seat of ICJ, teleworking is to be enforced.
  • Travel outside of Hague for the members of the Court and Registry is to be avoided.

All of the measures are in accordance with the recommendations of Netherlands, as well as the United Nations itself and are subject to modifications based on evolution of situation.
