Registration of Employee Provident Fund under the scheme of Employee’s Provident and miscellaneous Provision Act, 1952 is Mandatory in the establishment where 20 or more employees are employed. Scheme also gives an option of voluntary registration to employer under this act if the number of employees are less then 20, with the consent of its employees. After the applicability of the provisions of this Act the employer should made an application to the Central Provident Commissioner.
Every employer registered under this act have to filling monthly returns on before 25th of very month and annual return before 30th April. Employee who are registered under this scheme is allotted a 12 digit UAN (Unique Account Number). It is the responsibility of the Employer to deduct and make payment of provident fund and there will be equal contribution of 12% by the employer and employee.
